As our readers may be aware – one of the best forms of cheap travel is that by train. Particularly, if you reside in the tri-state (or adjacent) area, you are likely no stranger to a train commute. Amtrak is the train brand that has been getting folks from point A to point B for over 50 years. In fact, over 40 “Points A to Points B). In addition to cross-country treks, Amtrak is also known for their nationwide low-fare deals.

Nor’Easters are, in fact, about to find it much more economical to travel between New York and Washington D.C. This is thanks to Amtrak’s newly announced ultra-low fare “Night Owl Fares” promotion, for select Northeast Corridor routes. The best part? Some of these fares start at ONLY $5 one way!

Discounted fares include those that stop at: New York’s Penn Station, Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, Baltimore’s Penn Station and Washington’s Union Station. They are for off-peak travel, departing between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., for one-way coach tickets.
