As a frequent Amex Platinum enthusiast (and often apologist) who happens to call Denver home - I really wanted to love this lounge. I been to this lounge on multiple occasions, probably more-so than any other domestic lounge, in hopes that I was just visiting on bad days. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, this one is hard to rave about. Side note: It is not a complete disaster, and there are some positives, so I will start with those.
First of all, the location. Found on Concourse C (just past Gate C46), up in the mezzanine - this lounge is pretty easy to get to (albeit slightly hidden) no matter what your gate is. From any other gate, the walk will take you (probably) no longer than 5 minutes. In addition to that - it is past security, so no need to strip search in and out on every visit.
Also, it is big. Centurions second biggest to date (~1400sqft).
It is also relatively peaceful. The floorplan and typical traffic (on the times I have been there) allow multiple spots where you can find yourself alone to work or play games on your iPad - or whatever your pre-flight regimen is.
In addition to that - it also opens nice and early. 5a.m. is enough time to get in, get some breakfast and relax a bit before any 7 a.m. flight or later). The bar also opens at 7 a.m. for limited drinks, so if that matters to you - it is available. There is also a hot food bar (buffet) that serves up breakfast lunch and dinner.
There is also (supposedly) a live action station, though on every visit of mine, it has been vacant.
It also boasts a craft beer bar (the only Centurion Lounge to have one, and so incredibly "Denver") - unfortunately, despite being the one amenity that really piqued my interest - in my many visits, both the beer bar and the game room were not open.
There are private showers and a family room as well.
OK - I know...It has all the makings of a stellar suite. Unfortunately, I have been left grossly unimpressed every time I visit.
For starters, and maybe most important, the food offered in the hot buffet is laughable. I have seen everything from powdered eggs, to frozen entrees to scary looking soups. I would say every time I have partaken - I was left feeling especially bloated or queasy.
Most amenities have been CLOSED every time I have been there. I have yet to see the beer bar, game room, action station or showers open on ANY of my visits.
And finally, whether I have been there at first open, mid-day or in the evening - the lounge is not really kept up. Empty spots left where food refresh should happen, dirty tables, out of stock utensils, napkins, cups etc. I often want to grab a cup of tea to go, on my way out - but for some reason they keep the to go cups outside with the folks at the main entrance. So, if you are lucky enough that there is not a line to get in, you still need to walk out, find a person and ask them for a cup. Worst case scenario, you are waiting for them to have a free moment between folks trying to enter. I now am savvy enough to ask for a to-go cup on my way in - but if you don't know, you don't know.
This type of lounge maintenance would possibly have passed when the American Express Platinum allowed 2 guests entrance. And I am probably being nice. But, Centurion Lounge Access is one of the biggest benefits of the card, and with the recent changes to guest policy, I am not sure this one cuts the mustard. If this were the standard for Centurion (luckily, I don't think it is), I would be reconsidering my Platinum for a more affordable Gold.
Overall, in my opinion, more bad than good - and definitely not worth getting a $650 card for. 5/10
