Las Vegas is a conundrum for me. I explain that sentiment a bit more thoroughly in our Ultimate Guide to Las Vegas, but the city always perplexes me. The Strip itself is, perhaps, the single most distracting plot of land in the World. From the bright flashy lights, dazzling the night sky straight until morning, to the outdoor shows and hordes of people at any given hour. There is something to get lost in around every corner.
And, that’s just the outside.
The real action takes place on the inside. With the casinos taking up most of the floors in strip, the bells and buzzes are absolutely incessant, and there is always an abundance of people to meet.
By and large, though, the Strip is a house of cards (pun intended). High commerce hidden behind a thin coat façade of high class, and when you look close enough…anywhere…you can see the paint starting to peel away.
This is not a criticism, by the way, just an observation. It is also not really a secret, we are all aware that the strip is designed to get folks to let go of their money. From the celebrity chef owned restaurants, that are a slightly less quality that any of their sister establishments, to the overpriced gift shops offering not much more than you can find online at a fraction of the cost and no clocks on the walls, to (of course) the gambling – The Las Vegas strip is very good at what it does. It is, quite honestly, the Disney World for adults. And, for the record, I love Disney World.
The point of all of this is, is that while the Strip will immediately and entirely take your attention – if you are willing to invest some time and energy, there is real magic to find in Las Vegas.
anyway, ant over and without further ado…

While, not “hidden” in the traditional sense, Downtown Las Vegas is definitely lost in the shadow of the Strip. But, ask any local where to experience their Las Vegas, and Downtown will most certainly be on their list.
While The Strip offers a fantastical escape from reality and the opportunity for patrons to pretend they are someone else – Downtown Las Vegas offer a vibrant contrast, boasting a rich tapestry of history, culture, and entertainment. 4 Hidden Gems To Find On The Strip
Secret Pizza
Tucked away within The Cosmopolitan Hotel, with no sign or official entrance, on a floor you may not get to and down an unassuming hallway, lives possibly the best slice of pizza in Las Vegas. Look, let it be clear that I am a pizza aficionado who takes the title very seriously. I grew up in New York and have probably put down more slices world wide, than Dave Portnoy by a ten fold. I have had every style from NY to Chicago to Detroit to you name it. My pizza creds run deep. Is this a contender for the best pizza I have ever eaten? Not by a long shot. Is it a pretty good slice of Classic NY Neapolitan? Sure.
More importantly though, is that Secret Pizza completely NAILS the ambiance. Upon completing my trek down the aforementioned hallway, I was immediately brought back to a New York shop, with greasy white tees, slinging slices on to paper plates. True retro and nostalgia, this place is the real deal.
Best Friend (Park MGM)
You may pass “Best Friend” while bee lining for Eatery at Park MGM. That would be a mistake. Behind the façade meant to invoke memories of a Los Angeles bodega is a culinary experience curated by celebrity chef Roy Choi (The Chef Show).
The vibrant eatery celebrates the diverse flavors of Korean cuisine with a modern twist. Diners can indulge in mouthwatering dishes like Korean BBQ, crispy tofu bowls, and spicy pork tacos, all served in a lively and communal setting. With its eclectic menu, inventive cocktails, and energetic atmosphere, Best Friend offers a one-of-a-kind dining adventure that embodies the spirit of Las Vegas – bold, dynamic, and always full of surprises.)

This enchanting conservatory features seasonal displays of vibrant flowers, towering trees, and whimsical sculptures, meticulously crafted by a team of skilled horticulturists. From cascading waterfalls to blooming cherry blossoms, each display is a feast for the senses that showcases the beauty of nature in all its splendor.
